John Hovorka, MD

John Hovorka, MD, is a surgeon who specializes in vascular medicine, endovascular surgery, and wound care at Laser Surgical Solutions RGV PLLC, which has locations in McAllen, Rio Grande City and Raymondville,  Texas. 

Dr. Hovorka completed surgical training at The University of Missouri, Texas Tech University, andJohns Hopkins Hospital; he relocated to the Rio Grande Valley in 2002 to render services to their medically underserved community and has continued to serve South Texas for the last 22 years. Staying true to his willingness and devotion to providing for his community, Dr. Hovorka also serves his country as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Hovorka has focused on improving circulation in the lower extremities and decreasing rates of leg amputations.  

As a pioneer in the RGV medical community, he was one of the first providers in the Rio Grande Valley to implement laser technology to unblock arteries. In addition to his vascular practice, he has also served as a trauma surgeon at McAllen Medical Center, where he was appointed Trauma Medical Director and was pivotal in obtaining their Level 1 Trauma Center designation.  

Dr. Hovorka and his team at Laser Surgical Solutions are also excited to offer the first office-based Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Center in the Rio Grande Valley.  He is board certified in Surgery, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and has continued to train learners from UTRGV as well as other local schools.
